AAPM Leadership
The mission of AAPM is advancing medicine through excellence in the science, education and professional practice of medical physics; a broad-based scientific and professional discipline which encompasses physical principles with applications in biology and medicine. With 9003 members in 81 countries, AAPM supports the Medical Physics community with a focus on advancing patient care through education, improving safety and efficacy of radiation oncology and medical imaging procedures through research, and the maintenance of professional standards. AAPM has a staff of 39 and an annual budget of 10.7M, and is located at 1631 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
AAPM publishes two scholarly journals Medical Physics, and the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics (JACMP). AAPM sponsors two scientific meetings each year, a spring clinical meeting, and a main summer annual meeting. AAPM membership information and application forms are available online.

Adaptive Radiotherapy (ART) is transforming modern radiation oncology by enabling real-time treatment adaptation to each patient’s changing anatomy and biology, bridging precision and personalization in cancer care.
Adaptive Radiotherapy (ART) is transforming modern radiation oncology by enabling real-time treatment adaptation to each patient’s changing anatomy and biology, bridging precision and personalization in cancer care.
Fueled by advances in imaging, AI, motion management, and data-driven planning, ART is redefining how we deliver radiotherapy and making treatments safer, smarter, and more responsive.
The 2026 AAPM Summer School on Adaptive Radiotherapy offers a 4-day immersive, hands-on experience for medical physicists, radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists who want to integrate or optimize ART in their practice. Through interactive lectures, demonstrations, and case-based sessions, participants gain the insight and confidence to lead adaptive radiotherapy in diverse clinical settings.
